You are invited to the Haitian Health Festival : Raising the Hope of the Haitian Community in the Philadelphia Area

Dear Community Partners and Supporters,

Once again, The Elise Joseph Foundation (EJF) invites you to support the 5th Annual Haitian and Haitian-American Health Fair in Philadelphia.  This year, we are presenting the Haitian Health Festival: Raising the Hope of the Haitian Community in the Philadelphia Area, Saturday, October 2, 2010, from 11 am to 5 pm (set-up 10am to 11am) at the James Lowell Elementary School located at 450 W. Nedro Avenue (On 5th Street bet. Nedro & Grange), Philadelphia, PA 19120.

This year, more than ever, the Haitian Community needs your support. We are seeking medical and social service providers, sponsors, presenters and vendors to provide screenings, resource materials, offer various types of services and giveaways. As you may already be aware, a number of new Haitian immigrants have been allowed to come to the Philadelphia Area as a result of the recent Haiti earthquake and many Haitian residents are unemployed and are in need of services. As usual, the event is FREE and OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. Therefore, it is our hope to serve over 500 participants this year.

The Haitian community is often an underserved minority group with limited access to health services. That is why we have partnered with the Mayor’s Commission on African and Caribbean Immigrant Affairs, Haitian Medical Professionals in Philadelphia, Philadelphia Department of Public Health, Eastern University and many other organizations to provide health and wellness resources. The event is being promoted with advertising and support from the Haitian Clergy Association of Philadelphia, the Haitian Coalition of Philadelphia, the Haitian Community Center, 88.5 FM (sca) Radio Vision Celeste (Heavenly Vision) Christian Haitian Radio that reaches an estimated 150,000 Haitians in the tri-state area, L’Informateur Haitian newspaper and EJF volunteers in the Haitian community.

Attached is the Medical and Service Providers/Presenters’ Sign-Up Form, please specify the service you will provide, number of team members, and number of chairs and tables needed, etc. (you may need to bring your own table) and return the form via fax # 267-335-2074.
