Elise Joseph Foundation

Serving the Haitian and Haitian-American community through education, cross cultural promotion, health promotion and humanitarian relief.

CULTURAL PROMOTION

The Elise Joseph Foundation promotes culturalism through the Cultural Relations Radio Program and Missions Training. Haitian immigrants make up a significant part of Philadelphia’s landscape and voting public. East Oak Lane, Feltonville, Germantown, Mount Airy, and the Logan sections of North Philadelphia house the largest concentration of Haitian immigrants. The second largest group can be found in West Philadelphia, with the remaining groups residing in Northeast Philadelphia and immediate suburbs. The average Haitian American family of four has limited health insurance and an average salary of $35,000 a year.

Cultural Relations Radio Program
The “Cultural Relations Show,” is a radio program that addresses issues of concern to the Haitian community. This cross cultural program is a vehicle for the Elise Joseph Foundation to share information about the Haitian culture and heritage, as well as other cultures. We address topics that concern the community including immigration, health issues, child-parent relations, community services, community announcements, etc. The program airs weekly every Monday at 9pm Live on 88.5 FM (sca) Radio Vision Celeste (Heavenly Vision) Haitian Christian radio station serving the Delaware Valley, and on the Internet at www.radiovisionceleste.com.

Through the program, we inform and educate the Haitian community by inviting service providers from various organizations to inform about available resources in the Philadelphia Area. Representatives from U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services and other immigration service providers are available to answer immigration and citizenship questions and provide confidential assistance.
